Xiaomi is first and foremost a smartphone manufacturer, but this China-based smartphone OEM tends to dabble in pretty much anything tech-related. They have introduced a number of devices this year, including smartphones, phablets, a fitness tracker, air purifier, smart scale, etc. The company has also introduced two generations of smart TVs thus far, the Mi TV and Mi TV. Xiaomi has announced a press conference for today, and we were wondering what will they announce during it considering that the company's co-founder already confirmed that the Mi 5 flagship won't be arriving today.
Well, Xiaomi has just unveiled the third-gen Mi TV, read on. The Xiaomi Mi TV 3 features a 60-inch display, and is extremely thin, it is only 11.6mm thick (at its thinnest point), while it's 36.7mm thick at the thickest point. This smart TV sports an aluminum frame, and a metal backplate. So, you're probably wondering what's the resolution of that 60-inch display, well, the Mi TV 3 actually sports LG's 4K panel. This display has a color gamut of NTSC 85% and MEMC motion compression, and it will offer super clear motion images according to Xiaomi. As far as sound goes, Mi TV 3 actually packs in four 2.5-inch mid-range subwoofers, and it will offer clean sound and really deep bass.
The Mi TV 3 is a direct successor to Mi TV 2 offerings Xiaomi announced both last and this year. The company has announced the 49-inch Mi TV 2 back in May 2014, and the 40-inch variant of that TV followed earlier this year (March). Those two Mi TV offerings were rather affordable considering what they had to offer, so you must be wondering how much will the Mi TV 3 cost. Well, Xiaomi said that the 60-inch 4K Mi TV 3 smart TV is priced at 4,999 Yuan $786 in China, which is significantly more expensive than its predecessor, but also significantly cheaper than the competition. The Mi TV 3 will be available in China soon, but we still don't have the exact release date. That's pretty much it, not many people expected Xiaomi to introduce Mi TV 3 today, but there you have it. We'll let you know as soon as Xiaomi releases more info regarding this TV's availability.
