OnePlus Blind Test Their New €49 Icons Earphones

Earlier today, OnePlus finally put an end to all the speculation surrounding their third device, the OnePlus X. This is a device which is designed to offer somewhat premium specs but bound within a smaller body than the two previous OnePlus devices. Not to mention, a smaller price which makes this the most affordable OnePlus device at launch. The OnePlus X will come sporting 3GB RAM, a Snapdragon 801 processor and will be available in the U.S. for $249. In terms of availability, the OnePlus X will begin its option to buy-through-invite in Europe starting from November 5th and will be available to U.S. consumers starting November 19th. Well, the OnePlus X is not the only inbound OnePlus product it would seem, as well as the actual device, it looks like there will be a number of new accessories en route too. One of which is the company's new headphones which are going by the name the 'OnePlus Icons'.

To try and highlight the quality on offer with the OnePlus Icons, OnePlus put the earphones to the test. More specifically, a blind test with a bunch of musicians, artists and music-related students at the Helsinki Music Center. The OnePlus Icons went up against a pair of â‚¬100 earphones (brand not confirmed) along with a €300 pair (again, brand not confirmed). To put the price difference in to perspective, the OnePlus Icons will be available for a mere â‚¬49.

Needless to say, the video spends most of its time with all of those being blind-tested communally pointing out all of the negative aspects of the first two unknown competitor earphones although they do seem to agree that the €300 pair was better than the €100 pair. Following which, the testers get to try out the new OnePlus Icons (still blinded) and are instantly amazed at the sound quality on offer. With a seemingly universal inability to find any criticism or fault with them. When asked about the price of the OnePlus Icons, the testers range in their guesses from €200 up to €500, based on the sound quality. As such, the video then highlights their surprise to learn that the OnePlus Icons will only cost â‚¬49. Those interested can check out the video below.
