New Moto 360 Goes On Sale In Canada 10/28 & Starting From $379

Motorola Canada announced today that the new, second-generation, Moto 360 smartwatch will go on sale October 28, starting at $379 and ranging up to $499.99.  It is now available for pre-order at Best Buy, but sales at TELUS and eventually the Google Store will be on October 28.  There are three models available from Motorola - a 46mm men's model, a 42mm men's model and a 42mm women's model - and all three come with different straps.  All models are honed from aircraft grade 316L stainless steel and are IP67 certified for dust proofing and water resistance.  The new models are running Android Wear 1.3, which means they are compatible with either any Android device running 4.3 or higher, but also the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s and the iPhone 6 and 6s series with iOS 8.2 and above.  This should really broaden the appeal of these Android smartwatches - Android and Apple - who would have ever thunk it?

In Canada, the 42mm men's variant will be available in a black case and a black leather strap or a silver case with a cognac leather strap and both will sell for $379.99.  The price goes up with the men's 46mm model - you can get it with a silver case and cognac leather strap for $429.99 or a beautiful black case and black stainless steel bracelet for $499.99.  The women's 42mm model is available with a blush gold case with a sand-colored band for $399 or a silver case with a stainless steel bracelet for $429.99.

Best Buy will carry all of the models listed above and available for pre-order now.  TELUS will only offer three models - the 42mm men's black case with the black leather strap, the 42mm women's model with the rose gold case and sand strap and the 46mm men's silver case and cognac leather strap.  The Google Store will carry only the two 42mm models - men's black and women's gold.

The 42mm size is 360 x 360 pixels or 263 PPI, the 46mm is 360 x 330 pixels and 233 PPI, and both have Gorilla Glass 3.  Moto 360 smartwatches pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz with an Adreno 305 GPU clocked at 450 MHz.  They have 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory and a 300 mAh battery in the 42mm and 400 mAh battery in the 46mm.  They have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 and the usual Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, Gyroscope and Vibration/Haptics engine.
