HTC has recently released a controversial device, the One A9, which features a design that to some is reminiscent of the overall design of the iPhone. As well as what some would consider to be mid-range specs and features. While they announced an attractive promotional price, it won't last for long and the new price is considered a tad high for what the phone offers. Now, a new phone has been spotted, it's called One M9e and we've known it has existed for some time, as it was certified by TENAA. Now it appears it has gone on sale through the Chinese retailer TMall.com. It features an identical design to the HTC One M9, it even features a dual-toned color option and its dimensions and weight are kept the same. Still, some of its specs were toned down.
The similarities with the original M9 include the display, which measures 5-inches and it keeps the same Full HD resolution. There's still a front-facing camera with Ultrapixel technology and a BSI sensor capable of recording 1080p video. Speaking of the front side, there are two stereo speakers with BoomSound technology and Dolby Audio enhancements. The integrated battery has a capacity of 2,840 mAh and it runs HTC Sense on top of Android 5.0. Its dimensions are 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61 mm and it weighs 157 grams. The color options include an all gold one, silver and gold and a dark gray one.
The differences include the processor as the M9e is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6795T octa-core processor, speeding at 2.2 GHz and it is paired with 2 GB of RAM this time around. The amount of internal storage is less, as it now includes 16 GB, although it can be expanded with microSD cards and it even supports cards with up to 2 TB. The main camera now includes a 13-megapixel BSI sensor with F/2.2 aperture and optical image stabilization, it is capable of recording video at 1080p resolution. There's also a dual-toned LED flash for those low-light situations. The phone is priced at 2,699 yuan, which is an equivalent of $425, but there are some additional deals on the site, as well as financing plans.
