Cyanogen Is Working On Cyanogen OS 13 Update For ZUK Z1

ZUK has been all over the news lately. The company has unveiled their first smartphone, ZUK Z1, earlier this year, and are in the middle of expanding its availability. The phone was announced in two versions, the Chinese variant ships with ZUK's ZUI user interface, while the international variant comes with Cyanogen OS 12.1 installed on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The international version of this phone is already available in Europe via various Amazon stores all over the continent. That being said, ZUK's co-founder, Chenyu, has confirmed a couple of days ago that ZUK Z1 will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the Chinese New Year, which means the update will arrive before March.

The company's co-founder has referred to the Chinese variant of the device, and it seems like the international variant will get the update in that very same timeframe. Our source at ZUK has confirmed that Cyanogen is currently working on Cyanogen OS 13 update for the ZUK Z1, and as you probably already know, Cyanogen OS 13 will be based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We were unable to obtain any detailed info at this point, but ZUK probably doesn't have a date specified just yet either. March is still a couple of months away, and who knows what will happen until then. This is good news though, those of you who have purchased the ZUK Z1, no matter if we're talking about Chinese or international variants, can expect to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update before March next year.

The Lenovo-backed ZUK Z1 sports the same specifications in both of its versions. This device features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of non-expandable internal storage. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC along with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera is available on the back of this phone, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The 4,100mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package, while the phone sports a physical home button up front which doubles as a fingerprint scanner. Fast Charging is also available here, and same can be said about 4G LTE connectivity option. The ZUK Z1 measures 155.7 x 77.3 x 8.9mm, while it weighs 175 grams.
