Xiaomi is still one of the most successful Chinese manufacturers of mobile devices and other products. Some of their recent offerings have been very well received by users as they integrate good hardware specs and combine it with a lower price than expected. In August, the company announced a mid-range phablet called Redmi Note 2 and apparently, they have been working on a slightly better version of that phablet. The so-called Redmi Note 2 Pro has already been certified in China and we have even seen this new phablet in some renders and pictures. The main difference is that aluminum will be used in the new phablet's construction and it will integrate a fingerprint scanner on the back, this is the first time Xiaomi integrates one in their devices.
Now, a leaked picture of the device's aluminum cover has surfaced, confirming some of the details. The aluminum would be most certainly complemented with some kind of plastic on the top and the bottom where the antennas will be placed so the signals aren't affected by the metal. On the top, there is a cutout for the camera module, below, there's one for what seems to be a dual LED flash, it might even be one with different tones of lighting. Then, there's another circular cutout for the fingerprint sensor. On the bottom part, there's an engraved logo of the company and a little below, there are some perforations for the speaker. There are some cutouts on the right side of the phablet for the power button and the volume rocker.
Some of the rumored specs of the Redmi Note 2 Pro include the same 5.5-inch Full HD display and the same camera configuration of the regular version and this time they would use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor to power it up. There are also supposed to be 2 versions, one with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage and another one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The rumored pricing is 1,099 Yuan ($173) for the 2 GB version and 1,499 Yuan ($236) for the 3 GB version. With these new leaks, we could assume that its launch date is not very distant.
