If you're a big technology fan, or - dare I say it, a programmer - then there's a good chance that you're a big coffee drinker and lover. Of course, that isn't always the case and people from all walks of life get involved in coffee culture and appreciate the black gold like fine wine. I'll admit to being a home-roasting, coffee nerd and in today's Top 10 we're taking a look at the best coffee apps on Android. Whether it's perfecting your own brew, ordering more of the stuff or finding a nearby coffee house, we have you covered.

Baristame is an Android app that features all sorts of recipes and guides to perfect your own brew. It's not just your standard this much milk=this latte kind of app, and educates people about coffee as well as giving precise calculations about how much water to use and the method used to get the best extraction. A nice all-rounder for those just getting into the world of coffee, and experience pros alike, this is a nice option.

Secret Menu for Starbucks

Let's face it, while Starbucks might not be everyone's favorite, it is the only coffee chain that is pretty much guaranteed to have a store near you. For those looking for even more ridiculous coffee-inspired drinks, the Secret Menu is what you want. This neat little app has ways to order things off of the secret menu, and while it doesn't do much else, it's good enough for those looking for something extra out of there coffee adventures at Starbucks.

acaia Coffee

Acaia Coffee is an Android app that does all of the calculating and brewing help that coffee nerds need every now and then, but it adds a whole new element to this sort of app as well. The ability to share your notes, your brews and blends with other people online through a sort of social network is great and it's what a lot of people have been looking for in an Android app. A great addition to any coffee lover's cupboard, Acaia is worth taking a look at.

Mister Barista -Coffee Brewing

Mister Barista is yet another app that's designed to let you know exactly how to brew those particular brews. Where it stands out is in its lighthearted approach to design and the inclusion of equipment like the Aeropress. For some it might be a little on the pricey side, but it's got it where it counts and won't let you down when you need to brush up on a bra method or get the most out of a new blend.

I have a Nespresso machine and as a result I know that getting them straight from Nespresso is the only way to get your hands on the good stuff, especially those fancy limited editions. It is a shame then, that the official Android app isn't quite as good as it could be. Having said that, there's not too much to complain about here and it does get the job done. It's in need of a facelift and a speed boost, that's for sure, but to get your fix wherever you are, this works. The only hard part is waiting for those new pods to arrive.

Coffee Time for Android Wear

Coffee Time for Android Wear does pretty much what you think it does. It basically puts your Starbucks card onto your wrist, so that it can bet scanned at the counter as you checkout. It might not be perfect, but it certainly works, and until Starbucks bring out their way to do just this, it's the best option we have right now. For those quick trips to Starbucks in the bleary-eyed early hours of the morning, this little app makes life one tiny bit easier.

Coffee Capsule Guide

Nespresso do a great job of letting people know just what each pod is through their booklets and such, but these are easily lost. So, this simple app for Android allows users to see which is which once again, as well as rate them, something coffee fans are pretty passionate about. It's a simple affair, and will help you figure out which purple pod really is Arpeggio the next time you choose one from the rack.

Coffee Calculator

Coffee Calculator is a simple way of measuring extraction when you go to brew. This is not an app that's about fancy recipes or whatever, but more a way of getting things as close to 100% as you can. As such, this is all about weights and amounts of water. Still, for those really into their pour over or Aeropress, this is a neat app to have to hand.

Coffee Finder

Coffee Finder is the Android app you need to find your nearest Dunkin' Donuts, Peets Coffee, Tim Hortons, Caribou Coffee, Seattle's Best, Coffee Bean, Au Bon Pain and yes, Starbucks. it does what it sets out to do, and gets the job done. I do wish it had support for more independent coffee shops, but if you find yourself somewhere new looking for a cup of joe, this can lend a hand without any hassle.

This is a neat little app that uses Facebook to get your friends involved in the ancient art of going for a coffee. It might not take off throughout your friend group, but to organise coffee meetings for work or whatever, this is a nice lighthearted way to do just that, plus it looks nice as well.
