IFA is one of the events in which you can expect to hear a number of announcements from the industry leaders like Samsung, LG, Motorola and so on. However, it is also one of the events in which you are likely to hear a number of announcements coming from companies that you might not be expecting. Take Siemens for instance. A few days ago, reports started to come in that Siemens were planning on unveiling a new high-end Gigaset smartphone at the event. Well, that time has come and Siemens have indeed unveiled a new Gigaset smartphone. In fact, they have announced three. The three devices are the Gigaset ME, Gigaset ME Pro and Gigaset ME Pure.
In terms of the specs, the standard Gigaset ME comes with a 5-inch Full HD display. Inside, the Gigaset ME sports 3GB RAM and powered by the 64-bit Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. In terms of storage, the ME comes equipped with 32GB internal storage and does include a microSD card slot for expansion when needed. Moving to the camera side of things and the ME comes equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front facing option. As to be expected by the name, the Gigaset ME Pro is a larger and more spec-heavy model and comes sporting a 5.5-inch Full HD display. Inside, is the same 3GB RAM and the same Snapdragon 810 processor. While the camera on the Pro version has been bumped up to a 20-megapixel rear offering, which is coupled with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. In terms of the Gigaset ME Pure, these seems to be the affordable spec-based device and comes with the same 5-inch Full HD display as the Gigaset ME. However, the RAM has been downgraded to 2GB, the storage is downgraded to 16GB and the processor is the more mid-ranged placed Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. While the cameras on the Gigaset ME Pure seem to be the same 13-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front-facing combo on the Gigaset ME.
Another notable difference between the three seems to be the battery life. The Gigaset ME comes equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Gigaset ME Pure comes with a slightly higher 3,220 mAh battery. Of course, the Gigaset Pro is the big battery touting device sand comes offering a 4,000 mAh battery. All of the devices seem to be running on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box. In terms of pricing, the Gigaset ME will be available in Europe for €469, while the Pro will be available for €549 and the more affordable option, the Gigaset ME Pure will come in at €349.
