Report: TCL Might Acquire UMi, If They Haven't Already

UMi and TCL are both Chinese smartphone manufacturers. These two companies actually have a lot in common it seems, they both sell their devices via a number of Chinese resellers and ship them all over the world, and their devices actually have a similar design language. Speaking of the design, we've received a rather interesting information from China which concerns both of these companies and their smartphone offerings. Let's see what's what, shall we.

If you take a look at the provided image above, you'll get to see four devices blended into one image. They seem to overlap perfectly, don't they now? Well, it seems like there's a good reason for that. According to the latest info we've received from China, TCL is looking to boost its sales, and the company might acquire UMi. We don't exactly have proof that this is happening at the moment, other than the image you can see above, but the report we've received comes from a very reliable source, so we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

The four devices showed in the image above are UMi eMax Mini, TCL 3S, UMi eMax and TCL 3N. The first and the second device overlap almost perfectly. and same can be said for the last two as well. it seems like these two companies are already working together behind the scenes, and according to what we've heard, that might change soon, and TCL might officially purchase UMi. UMi has been doing a really solid job lately, the company has released a number of devices this year, and some of them are really compelling, like the UMi eMax and UMi Iron smartphones which we've had the chance to review. It remains to be seen how accurate this information is, and whether it will affect UMi's business model. Considering how many companies are manufacturing smartphones in China, we might see things like this happen more often in the future, we're talking about the largest smartphone market in the world after all.
