MovieDay App Makes Tracking New Movies Hassle-free

Material design apps are a treat to the eye, especially so when they help you keep track of the highly anticipated upcoming movies, with a countdown tracker, and a sleek, lightweight app, providing notifications in time. MovieDay for Android does exactly that, and much more. This nifty little Android app tracks the time left for the release date of all the movies you are looking forward to watching. A very smart implementation of Material Design, with its vibrant colours and fluid design throughout the app, just adds icing to the cake.

A quick search of the title in the browse section would allow the user to add the movie to the watch list, and the app will start a countdown to the release date of the film, to promptly notify the user about the release. It also allows creating a checklist of older titles, acting as an organizer of all the movies watched. The app smartly parses data from the extensive film database and shows the trailers, synopses, and ratings from all the titles, just a tap away. The movies are also personalised by different colours. One caveat is that the movies are not synced to the cloud. Thus, the list would not be accessible in other devices. All the data about the movies added to the list are stored locally and can be viewed offline which is a great bonus.

The weekly movie notifications are helpful, and the app also serves as an excellent reminder tool for upcoming and to-watch films. MovieDay also proves helpful in noting down movie recommendations we keep receiving throughout the day, effectively saving them for future references. But even without the added features, MovieDay is a solid app staying true to its core function of tracking upcoming movies. The developer, oUJi is really prompt in fixing the bugs that crop up from time to time with regular updates, and he says a lot of additional features like sorting and tagging titles, and list backup (a much-requested feature) are on their list. The size of the app is a meagre five megabytes. Even though the app is new in Google Play Store, an average rating is about 4.8, which stands for an excellent score.
