Huawei Mate S Availability Announced In China

Huawei has announced their long rumored Mate S handset during IFA in Berlin. This smartphone actually sports 'Force Touch' display (in one of its variants), and is made out of metal. Interesting enough, the Mate S sports 'only' a 5.5-inch display, while we have expected it to ship with a 5.7-inch display, or even a bigger panel than that. It remains to be seen if Huawei intends to release the Mate8 this year or not, considering the Mate S can be considered a smartphone, not exactly a phablet. Anyhow, during the announcement, Huawei has mentioned that the Mate S will launch in China on September 9th, and that it will reach Western Europe on September 15th.

Speaking of which, the device was released in China yesterday, as Huawei promised. The company has showcased 32, 64 and 128GB models of the device, and it seems like only the 128GB variant sports 'Force Touch'. Only the 32 and 64GB models will be available at first, and will cost 3,499 Yuan and 4,199 Yuan, respectively. The 128GB variant of the device will come at a later date it seems, Huawei didn't really talk much about the availability part of the 128GB model. Huawei has also mentioned that the 64GB model of the device will be the first model listed, and that it is also available in 2,000 retail stores all over China as well.
The Huawei Mate S features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 32, 64 and 128GB of expandable internal storage. Huawei's HiSilicon 935 octa-core processor powers this smartphone, and a 2,700mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 13-megapixel OIS camera is located on the back of this phone, and same can be said about the dual-LED, dual tone flash. The 8-megapixel shooter is located up front, and this device also offers two SIM card slots. The 4G LTE connectivity is also available here, and the device also sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with Huawei's Emotion UI 3.1 on top of it. The Huawei Mate S measures 149.8 x 75.3 x 7.2mm, while it weighs 156 grams.
