HTC has been trying to figure out to how to sell more devices for quite some time now. This Taiwan-based company has having issues turning a profit for quite some time now, and they had to cut costs several times in the last year or so as well. HTC was once amongst the top three smartphone OEMs in the world, so the company's current situation is far from ideal. That being said, they've released quite a few high-end devices this year, including the One M9, One M9+, One E9+, Butterfly 3, etc. The company is expected to announce their 'Hero' device, the A9, in the coming weeks, and that might even happen during HTC's press conference tomorrow.
We're not here to talk about the HTC A9 (Aero), but a mid-range HTC-branded smartphone which has surfaced on TENAA in China. The HTC M9e features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). The device will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 2.2GHz, which is likely to be MediaTek's Helio X10 SoC. The 13-megapixel camera will be available on the back of the One M9e, and a dual-LED, dual tone flash will be placed next to the camera sensor. The device will also sport the UltraPixel front-facing shooter, and 4G LTE connectivity will also be a part of this package. As you can see in the provided image, the device will also pack in dual front-facing HTC BoomSound stereo speakers with Dolby Audio.
The HTC One M9e will measure 144.6 x 69.87 x 9.61mm, while it will weight 157 grams. The device will come in Gold, Silver, Gray and Black Color options, and it is possible HTC plans to unveil this handset at tomorrow's event as well, we'll find out soon. The HTC One M9e sports really solid specifications on the inside, but its price is crucial here, if the price ends up being too high, HTC will hardly sell many of these phones, because this is a mid-ranger after all. Either way, stay tuned, we'll report back as soon as more info pops up.
