DROID Turbo 2 Tipped For Oct. 29th Launch Date

Motorola's made quite a splash this past month, having unveiled a few new phones earlier in September at IFA in Berlin, alongside the new Moto 360 smartwatch which comes in a handful of variations. Motorola also has another new phone suspected to be waiting in the wings though which has yet to receive an official announcement, the DROID Turbo 2. The last details about this upcoming phone bound for Verizon's network popped up just a few weeks ago shortly after IFA as an image leak showing off what the phone potentially looks like, and a rumor has already surfaced that Motorola could be looking to announce as well as launch the phone sometime in October although up until now, there hasn't been any information as to an actual date.

Recent details have emerged with a new rumor suggesting that Verizon will be set to launch the DROID Turbo 2 on October 29th, although that date is still unconfirmed by Verizon and Motorola at this point. In addition to the tentative launch date, it's also said that Motorola could be gearing up for a mid-October announcement of the phone around of couple weeks prior to the actual release, with the announcement date said to be October 15th. Last year's DROID Turbo came in a few variations and color schemes, but that was all consumers had at their disposal when it came to customization of the phone.

According to the same rumors, Motorola will be making the new DROID Turbo 2 available via Moto Maker much like they have done with the Moto X and Moto G devices as well as the new Moto 360, which would end up giving consumers a higher level of personalization with the device. This would be a first for the DROID line, as well as the first time Motorola has opened up Moto Maker to any other phone that wasn't either the Moto X or the Moto G. This could signal that Motorola may be moving towards using Moto Maker for more of their future devices, although if the rumor is true it's also possible they could just be doing it for the DROID Turbo 2. As part of the Moto Maker purchase, customers who personalize a new DROID Turbo 2 through the site tool instead of buying it through Verizon Wireless are said to receive a free design swap on the phone once within the first two years of buying the device. Now that there are two tentative dates to look out for, Verizon customers have something to look forward to.
