Technology has come quite a long ways, with things like connected thermostats, all kinds of streaming media, and smart locks which let consumers unlock any door in the home using only their smartphone. August Home is a company who has had a smart lock on the market since earlier this year, and recently they just launched a brand new app to help consumers unlock their doors using their phone. August Smart Lock V3.0 is the latest iteration of the companion app to the August Smart Lock bringing in new features, improved stability and performance and a completely brand-new UI with material design and simplified navigation.
The app has just launched today, and aside from performance being improved which not only makes the user experience better for existing August Smart Lock users, it has a brand new Auto-Unlock functionality built in that allows for proximity based door unlocks as the consumer approaches their home, so there's no need to pull out your smartphone or open the app to initiate the door unlock. No more fiddling with your keys either as everything happens automatically. People don't always come home empty handed so the new Auto-Unlock would make bringing home groceries a snap.
Even though the app has been completely redesigned, users will notice the same great features from the older apps are still present. You can still send guest keys to people if you're expecting them, and you have complete control of how long the unlock access stays whether it's for a month or an hour. As part of the new app re-design, navigation within the app is now accessible with just one touch so things aren't just easier, they should also be faster. This means faster to unlock the door, and faster to get inside and do whatever it is you need to do at home, like relax or get ready for a night out. As stated above the new app also has stability and performance improvements, and users will notice this with more reliable Bluetooth connections between their phone and the lock. The app is free to download and is available in the Play Store as of today, and does require an august smart lock to function.
