Many of us are not fans of large smartphones, like the Galaxy Note 5, Nexus 6 and others. And have been asking for smaller smartphones. However, this new smartphone from Elephone might just be a bit too small. It's just 2 inches, and very small. In fact, I'm sure I'd lose this thing. It runs Android, albeit a custom version of the OS, it's actually running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, as you can see in the images in this post.
According to Elephone, this smartphone can be used as an accessory to your smartphone, or take the place of it. So imagine you're going to the gym, you could take this smaller one with you, that will hold a bit of music and go workout. Instead of bringing a 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 5. Now a smartphone this big, doesn't do a whole lot. However, in our time with the smartphone it's pretty fluid. Surprisingly. However the camera is pretty bad. Very slow, and pixelated. But for $80, and a smartphone that size, what else could you expect?
Right now this smartphone does not have a name. So if you have a name for it, feel free to let us know and we'll pass it along to Elephone. I'd call it the Elephone Mini or something. It's going to be available later this year for about $80 USD. Which is a pretty fantastic price for a smartphone like this. While you can't do Periscope or use Twitter on it, you can still have quite a bit of fun. It'll be a great choice for someone's first smartphone as well. At $80, it's okay if someone loses this, compared to losing something like the Galaxy Note 5, right?
While we were at Elephone's office today, we also got a chance to check out the Elephone Vowney as well as the Elephone S2. Both are really nice looking devices. You can look forward to hands on with those two later on today. Elephone is making some really nice handsets, as are most of the other OEM's here in China, and really can't wait to see them go international.
