Vurb: Putting Apps & Friends, Together

Vurb is a popular app that won the TechCrunch Disrupt in 2014 and the "Best New App" by Apple and TIME, that is now available for Android.  According to their press release, "Vurb's mission is to create a smarter, more connected mobile world that empowers people to do more of what they want all in one step.  Vurb connects aps to bring all of your favorite people, places and things together."  It really is your one-stop app to find new places to eat, get movie times at several cinemas at once and to hook up with your friends with Vurb Chat.  The app is free and makes its debut on Google Play and in the Amazon Appstore for Android.

As one of the pictures in our gallery shows - planning a night out could involve 9 apps, 22 app switches, 77 swipes, 13 minutes on your phone and 10 texts.  Your friends text you to see what you are doing and you decide on a dinner and a late movie.  You start to plan your evening by using several apps - looking for the right place to eat, where to see a movie and then where to go for cocktails afterward.  With Vurb, you connect to services like Yelp, Rotten Tomatoes, Fandango, Foursquare, WhatsApp, Opentable, Google Maps, and more into one integrated place, they call a Vurb Card.  Vurb Cards can be saved and organized into Vurb Decks, which can be sent to your friends.

Vurb Decks can be used to collect master lists of your favorite personal things - a personal guide to the best Pizza or your ultimate summer music playlist.  If you are visiting a new city or planning a vacation - Vurb for the hotel, search for restaurants or nearby events and save those Cards to a Deck.  Say some friends are going with you on your trip, then just share your Deck with those friends - via Vurb's in-app chat, Social Media, Text or Email - so that everybody is on the same page.

Vurb is a great tool to find new places to go out to eat, find movie times, and with Vurb Chat to sync up with your friends - all in one app.  You can do everything from one app, including contacting Uber or Lyft without jumping from app-to-app.  According to Vurb, you can Search for restaurants, stores, movies, events, music, videos and save your results on Vurb Cards.  You can Get Reviews of eating places, hotels, movies from professional websites such as Yelp or Rotten Tomatoes or from other Vurb users.

Make reservations with OpenTable, order up a ride from Uber, book movie tickets with Fandango or stream shows and music...all in one app.  Vurb allows you to chat with friends through its messaging and chat feature or share the information via text, email Facebook or Twitter.  Vurb cards can be grouped into Vurb Decks, which can also be shared with friends.  You can even follow tastemasters such as Chef Michael Mina and Jeffrey Zurofsky from Bravo's "Best New Restaurant" to find new and exciting places.

Bobby Lo CEO and Founder of Vurb says, "There are so many incredibly useful apps out there - but with over 1.5 million to choose from on Android or iPhone, it's hard to know which ones to use or even that they exist.  Vurb finds and connects all of the most helpful apps and acts as a conductor so they all work together.  And now, we are taking things one step further by adding messaging and group chat that completes the chain.  Search, share, book, chat, do everything with Vurb, in one place."
