OnePlus is a company that's not afraid of stirring up a little controversy, as their countless marketing strategies have proven in the past. More than likely if you know someone that's even remotely interested in phones they've heard of OnePlus, the Chinese startup that made headlines all throughout the last year with their fantastic first flagship the OnePlus One. While the sequel to that phone, aptly named the OnePlus 2, is coming out soon, they launched a couple of new products inbetween the two flagship phones that caught the interests of the public. One of the more odd ones may just have been the DR-1 Drone which originally started as an April Fools' joke but was actually sold in limited numbers by the company.
We managed to get our hands on one of the elusive limited edition models and thought you might be interested in an unboxing to see exactly what comes in the package. But what good is just an unboxing without any kind of product test? No good that's for sure, so that's why we've gone ahead and filmed the OnePlus DR-1's maiden flight in all its awkward glory. The drone itself actually flies incredibly well, and I was able to more or less master its handling after just a few feeble attempts. There's even a few tricks that can be done with the drone thanks to the joysticks clicking in, a feature that flips the drone in the direction pressed directly after clicking in the right stick. Check out the video below and look for this one on Ebay or another second-hand place, because it's not likely that OnePlus is making too many more rounds of the DR-1 Drone.
