Verizon-Bound Motorola Droid Maxx 2 Back Covers Surface

Motorola has recently unveiled three new devices, the Moto G (3rd-gen), Moto X Play and Moto X Style. This is the company's new lineup for this year which consists out of really solid devices, but Motorola is nowhere near done announcing devices this year though. The company still has to announce the Moto 360 (2nd-gen), a smartwatch which leaked a number of times in the last couple of days, and some US-exclusive products. Speaking of which, some additional info just surfaced regarding Verizon's upcoming Motorola handset, read on.

So, the back covers of the alleged Motorola Droid Maxx 2 surfaced online, and you can check them out below this article. The Droid Maxx 2 will certainly be the re-branded Moto X Play which launched recently, according to the recent report, and the images you can check out. You can clearly see the 'Verizon Droid' branding on the covers in the gallery down below, which suggests that the launch of this device is imminent. The Yellow, Black and White Droid Maxx 2 back covers are showcased in the gallery, and Motorola / Verizon will certainly offer more color options. As already mentioned, the Droid Maxx 2 will be a re-branded Moto X Play handset, which quite probably means it will have the same specs as the original, but will have support for Verizon's network bands. This is also Motorola's way to offer the Moto X Play in the US considering the phone wasn't announced for the US market at launch.

The Moto Droid Maxx will, much like Moto X Play, probably sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC will feul this smartphone along with and Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The 21-megapixel shooter will be located on the back of the Droid Maxx 2, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. The 3,630mAh non-removable battery will also be a part of this package, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this device with a couple of apps added by Motorola, as usual. There you have it, we'll let you know if any additional details regarding this smartphone surface, stay tuned.
