No sooner has Samsung made their official announcement of the new Galaxy S6 Edge+ and we find it on Mobile Fun UK's website for pre-order at a cost of $1091.99 inc. VAT. This is the 32GB model in Black Sapphire in all of its 5.7-inch glory and the same glass and metal construction with the right and left sides of the display curving down. About the only specification that is different from the normal Galaxy S6 Edge is that the S6 Edge+ is packing 4GB of RAM, rather than the normal 3GB. There is no expected arrival date given, but they will be available in the US and Canada stores on August 21, so we would expect a similar date for the UK.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ bumps up the display to the size of the Galaxy Note 5 series with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels or about 518 pixels-per-inch (PPI). It uses the same Samsung 64-bit Exynos 7420 octa-core 14nm processor with four cores (A53) clocked at 1.5GHz and four cores (A57) clocked at 2.1GHz. It is packing 4GB of DDR4 RAM, which is faster and should allow great multitasking capabilities. It has 32GB of USF 2.0 flash internal memory with no means to expand - Samsung is offering a 64GB model as well, however, Mobile Fun does not list that variant. The non-removable battery is increased from 2600mAh in the standard S6 Edge to 3000mAh in the S6 Edge+.
In the camera area it looks like Samsung has decided to keep the awesome camera in the current Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. While it is somewhat disappointing that Samsung chose not to upgrade the sensor, the current model takes some of the best pictures out there. The main camera is a 16MP OIS model with a large aperture of f/1.9, autofocus and LED flash. The front-facing camera (FFC) is 5MP, retains the f/1.9 aperture, and adds a wide-angle for great group selfies or group video chatting. The S6 Edge+ does support Fast Charging and Fast Wireless Charging to keep your device with enough power to keep you productive.
