Back at Mobile World Congress earlier on in the year, Huawei announced their first smartwatch. Simply named the "Huawei Watch". Now at MWC, the watch was under tight security, we couldn't even get a proper hands on with the smartwatch. We've been waiting and waiting for the smartwatch to become available, and it should be available pretty soon. At least we are hoping so. As it's one of the best looking smartwatches that's been announced so far. Although Samsung's Gear S2 looks pretty dope as well. And so does the LG Watch Urbane, which was announced earlier this year (and also released earlier this year).
Today, the Huawei Watch appeared on Amazon for pre-order, showing the different prices for the different models. Starting at $350 for the leather model and going all the way up to $799 for the gold plated Huawei Watch. So it appears Huawei is looking to do something like Apple here, and have pretty expensive watches. There is also the black stainless steel model for $450, and a gold plated watch with brown leather for $699. All of these are available for pre-order now on Amazon. According to the Amazon listing, "This item will be released on September 2, 2015." So it appears that Huawei might announce availability at IFA next week in Berlin. Huawei is also expected to announce a few other products at their press conference in Berlin.
The Huawei Watch is one great looking smartwatch, and one we'd definitely love to check out. However, with a $349 price tag, it's hard to imagine this smartwatch being a top seller. It's more expensive than the Moto 360 was at launch, and about the same price as the LG Watch Urbane. Hopefully we'll get more details on the launch dates for the Huawei Watch at their press event next week in Berlin.
Huawei also just announced the Honor 7 yesterday for Europe. So it'll be interesting to see what exactly they have for us in Berlin. Either way, we will be in attendance to see what exactly the company has to offer. They should have a live stream of their press conference, and if they do, we will be sharing it here on the site next week. So stay tuned.
