Chinese smartphone vendor Gionee on Tuesday, launched the Marathon M4 smartphone in India as part of its Marathon series of smartphones, that come with giant batteries as their USP. This particular model is no different either, and comes with a 5,000 mAh battery as its Unique Selling Point. The device is being offered in two different color options - Black and White, and comes with an MSRP of Rs. 15,499 ($245). The company had already launched the Marathon M5 in India earlier this year with an even bigger 6,020 mAh battery.
On the occasion of the phone's launch, the General Manager for Ginonee India, Mr. Timir Baran Acharyya, said "Marathon M4 is a result of Gionee's consistent understanding of the rising demand for a device that not just looks great on the specs sheet, but also demonstrates an impeccable performance.Consumers today love to be connected on the go and are always on the lookout for powerful devices and M4 answers exactly that. Coming to the hardware specifications of the device launched earlier in the day, the Marathon M4 will feature a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720, which amounts to a 293 dpi pixel resolution. The smartphone is powered by a chipset of as-yet undisclosed make, which will come with an embedded quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz and a Mali 400 GPU. The smartphone will come with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card. The handset will run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Gionee's trademark Amigo UI 3.0 overlayed. The primary camera on the marathon M4 will come with an 8-megapixel sensor, while the secondary camera on the front of the device will have a 5-megapixel sensor. The primary camera will be accompanied by autofocus and an LED flash.
As for the connectivity options on the Marathon M4, the device will come with support for 4G LTE, 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. The device will also come with support for dual SIM, dual standby feature, and have an integrated FM radio receiver. The device measures 144.7 x 71.2 x 10.18 mm, and weighs 176 grams. As for the battery, the 5,000 mAh unit is said to be good enough for 440 hours of standby time and 50 hours of talk time, according to Gionee.
