German Retailers Now Offering Updated Galaxy S5 Neo

Last year's flagship from Samsung wasn't everybody's cup of tea, the Galaxy S5 featured a design that was considered rather dull, and the plastic build with some elements made to look like metal certainly didn't help its looks. The polycarbonate back of the phone featured a dotted pattern and was textured so it felt rubbery. As the sales declined, the company finally learned that consumers really care about the build quality and looks of their phones as they are devices that get used every day. A couple of months earlier, we started seeing some reports about the possibility of a Galaxy S5 Neo, which would be based on last year's model with some updated specs, according to the leak from a Dutch retailer.

Samsung has not officially announced the device just yet, but some German retailers already have it to preorder. Those retailers include Cyberport, Alternate and Mix-Computer, where the Galaxy S5 Neo can be ordered for 439 euros, expecting its delivery on August 27. The design of the phone looks slightly different because instead of the shiny band framing the smartphone, they used a matte finish on it. The polycarbonate back seems to have the same texture, but it now uses a different dotted pattern. The location of the buttons is the same, and the fingerprint reader on the Home button makes a comeback as well as the heart-rate sensor on the back. However, covered the USB 3.0 port became an uncovered Micro USB port, but it keeps the IP67 certification against dust and water damage.

The screen is the same 5.1-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD resolution, the processor is now a house-made octa-core Exynos 7580 clocked at 1.6 GHz with 2 GB of RAM, still, performance could be less impressive as the new processor is made for mid-range devices. The main camera still has 16 megapixels of resolution, but the front-facing one is now 5 megapixels, and there are 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded by Micro SD cards. There's a 2,800 mAh battery just like in the previous model and the dimensions and weight are also the same. Color options include a dark blue version and a gold and silver one.
