August 27, 2015 - Written By Alexander Maxham

The fifth generation Galaxy Note is now available from Samsung, and of course, the S Pen has made its return. It’s one of the most beloved features of the lineup, and there are plenty of apps out there that support the S Pen. Including Evernote, which makes taking handwritten notes very easy. Here we are going to take a look at about 10 apps that support the S Pen.

A great app for those that are bored in a meeting, or at work. Colorfy is basically a coloring book. So you can color the pictures in the coloring book using the S Pen. The S Pen is a great tool for coloring and drawing as well. Once more you have about as many colors to work with here as you could possibly want.

Evernote Widget

Evernote is a great app for taking notes. I use it quite often, actually. With the Evernote Widget, it supports handwritten notes with the S Pen. So instead of typing on a keyboard like SwiftKey, you can simply write the note with your S Pen. Also worth noting that the Action Memo that is built into the Galaxy Note 5 can sync with Evernote. So that’s worth a shot to use as well.

HandWrite Pro

Here is another handwriting note taking app. It’s HandWrite Pro which also supports the S Pen. But instead of just taking notes, you can also use it as a sketch pad in case you feel the need to let out a little creativity and inspiration. Just take out your Galaxy Note and sketch a drawing with the S Pen.

Scribble Racer

Scribble Racer is a racing game, that allows you to use your finger or S Pen. So it’s not limited to just the S Pen and will work with other stylus on other devices. It’s a cool racing game that works really well.

Google Handwriting Input

Now with Google Handwriting Input, you can go ahead and handwrite stuff for Google Keep and many other apps. For those that would rather handwrite something instead of typing on a keyboard.

This is one of AutoDesk’s many, many apps available that support the S Pen. The SketchBook app allows you to sketch something in your spare time, or take notes during a meeting. Pretty self-explanatory here. And it’s a great looking app actually.

SketchBook Express

The difference between SketchBook Express and SketchBook (listed above) is that SketchBook Express is a bit more professional with  a whole lot more options for drawing and sketching. It’s also compatible with tablets, making it a great app for the Galaxy Note 10.1 or 12.2.

ezPDF Reader

This app is a bit different from the others we’ve gone over already. It’s a PDF Annotator. So you can open up a PDF file and annotate it, as well as sign the PDF. Not to mention it’s a great PDF viewer as well.

Lecture Notes

Another great app here for students. Lecture Notes allows you to take notes while you’re in a lecture without using up paper, ultimately saving trees. This app was made primarily for Galaxy Note devices using the S Pen. It was also developed specifically for students, whether in college or in high school.

Here’s another great app for taking handwritten notes on your device. You can use either your finger or your stylus, or in this case the S Pen. This app also makes it easy to mark up PDFs on your smartphone or tablet. You can import images and draw on them with your stylus or S Pen as well. Pretty cool features, actually.
