Android 5.1 Lollipop To Hit UMi eMax Devices Soon

UMi is a rather interesting Chinese smartphone OEM. This is a rather small company compared to some other China-based heavyweight companies out there, but UMi is definitely trying to make a name for themselves out in the market. The company has released a couple of compelling smartphones thus far, including the UMi eMax and Iron we've already reviewed. That being said, we're actually here to talk more about the UMi eMax, a handset which launched a couple of months ago. Let's see what's what, shall we.

The company has announced that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is on its way to the UMi eMax handset. UMi says that they're almost done testing the update, and they plan to release it in approximately two weeks from now. The company has even shared an exact date when we might expect the update to land, so if you own an UMi eMax handset, expect the update to land on September 4th. Keep in mind that it might take a few days until the update rolls out your way, but chances are you're going to get it as soon as the company pushes it out.

The UMi eMax features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) IPS OGS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The device is powered by MediaTek's MT6752 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 1.7GHz, and a Mali-T760 GPU is here for graphics processing. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this thing, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. This is a dual-SIM handset which offers 4G LTE connectivity (FDD-LTE: 800/1800/2600mHz). The 3,700mAh battery is also available here, and the device ships with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, though the Lollipop update is on the way, as you can see.

There you have it, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is on its way to UMi eMax, so if you own the device mark September 4th in there. If you take a look at the first image in the gallery down below, you'll also notice that UMi is preparing a couple of surprises in September as well. Anyhow, if you're interested in purchasing the UMi eMax, you can order one from a number of Chinese resellers for around $160-170.
