YU Unveils Yureka Plus Handset, 1080p Display In Tow

YU is a relatively new Indian smartphone OEM, a company that was founded back in December last year. YU is actually owned by Micromax, and they've already released two very compelling devices. The Yu Yureka was announced back in January this year, and Yuphoria followed in May. Both of these handsets are powered by Cyanogen OS, and are very affordable. Despite their very low price point, both of these two devices sport 2GB of RAM, and a relatively solid set of specs. That being said, YU has just announced yet another device, let's see what it has to offer.

The company has announced the Yureka Plus handset, a slightly improved YU Yureka smartphone. There's very little difference between the original Yureka, and this smartphone. Both of these devices sport 5.5-inch displays, but the 'Plus' model comes with a 1080p panel, compared to the 720p display on the regular Yureka. Other than that, these devices are more or less identical in terms of specs. The Yu Yuphoria Plus sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). This handset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. This is a dual-SIM smartphone, and will ship with a 2,500mAh battery on the inside. 4G TLE connectivity is available here, and the phone comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with Cyanogen OS 12 on top of it. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this smartphone (f/2.2 aperture, Sony's IMX214 sensor), and flanked by an LED flash. The 5-megapixel camera is located up front (1.4 micron pixel size) for all your selfie and video call needs.

''With Yureka we ushered in the revolution that's 'YUPlayGod' and we couldn't have asked for a better response from our community. We have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and cheer we received for the Zeus of phones, Yureka. Grateful for the encouragement and support we are returning the love by breaking our very own unprecedented benchmark with Yureka Plus,'' said Rahul Sharma, founder of YU. The YU Yureka Plus comes in MoonDust Grey, and a Limited Edition Alabaster White color variants. The phone is priced at Rs. 9,999, and will be available in India exclusively via Amazon.in starting July 24th. The registrations for this flash sale have already started on Amazon.
