The OnePlus 2 has been one of the most widely covered smartphones of the year so far. With hours to go until the device is announced and all the speculation stops, the rumors still seem to be in full swing. Only a short while ago, images popped up online which seemed to be showing off the OnePlus 2 in all its glory. The images are extremely clear images and highlight many of the reported features of the device.
That said, over the last few weeks there have been quite a few contradictory reports coming through. Most of the contradictions have come from benchmark results which seem to show the device performing well on some occasions but not so well under others. Equally confusing is that some of the benchmarks show what is a 3GB RAM device while others show 4GB RAM (which is what OnePlus has confirmed comes running on the OnePlus 2). Well, it seems Phonearena has received a tip looking to clear up the confusion. The tip suggests that there is indeed two devices coming, the already known OnePlus 2 and the already rumored OnePlus Lite. With the latter being a lighter version of the former. Furthermore, the tip states that the benchmarks refer to the different devices with the A2001 being the Lite version while the A2003 model number being the main flagship device, the OnePlus 2.
However, interestingly, the tip also seems to be suggesting that the images which popped up this morning of the OnePlus 2 are actually of the OnePlus Lite. If this latest rumor is true, then this is likely to make those who saw the images and were not so impressed with the look a little happier, as the OnePlus 2 might still look quite different. That said, with known details like the fingerprint scanner, it seems unlikely that the images are not of the OnePlus 2. Either way, it won't be too long before all is known. Whether the images are of the OnePlus 2 or the OnePlus Lite and whether both devices will be announced today will all be cleared up once the event begins at 7pm PST.
