The OnePlus 2 Is Official & Starting From $329

It has been a long time coming but July 27th is finally here and OnePlus has now lifted the veils off their follow-up device to the OnePlus One, the OnePlus 2. This has been one of the most highly anticipated devices of the year and in spite of most of the specs actually being confirmed by the company in advance. That said, all of the details are now known and the OnePlus 2 is now official.

In terms of the specs, the OnePlus 2 come with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display along with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Moving to the inside and as already confirmed, the OnePlus 2 does come sporting 4GB LPDDR4 RAM although this is only for the 64GB model. The smaller 16GB model will come sporting 3GB LPDDR4 RAM. Both models are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 64-Bit quad-core processor. However, this is the revised 2.1 version and is underclocked at 1.8 GHz. In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 2 comes sporting a 13-megapixel rear camera and is equipped with laser autofocus while the front facing camera is a 5-megapixel shooter. Moving to the storage side of things and not much has changed here since last year. The OnePlus 2 is available in two memory capacities, 16GB and 64GB variants. Additional features on offer include dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and dual-SIM support. Everything is powered by a 3,300mAh battery while the OnePlus 2 comes running on Android 5.1 out of the box in the form of Oxygen OS.

In terms of the design of the OnePlus 2, the most notable change is the inclusion of the already confirmed fingerprint scanner. This is provided on the front of the device in the form of a home button. The OnePlus 2 will be available in only Sandstone Black at launch and OnePlus has confirmed Style Swap covers will be available in the coming weeks. In terms of pricing and availability, OnePlus has confirmed that the 16GB version will cost $329 while the 64GB version will cost $389. As previously expected, the OnePlus 2 will not be immediately available to buy directly and instead will rely on the invite system similar to what was used for the One. Availability for the 64GB model will begin on August 11 while the 16GB model will become available in the following weeks.
