Official Reddit App For Android Getting Closer

Reddit, is one of the most popular sites on the internet. It's likely you've browsed the website before and chances are that you're fully aware of the recent CEO changes, but until now, the Reddit website lacked an official application. Instead, the marketplace featured a selection of third party applications to serve a way to read and upload posts on your favorite subreddits. Now CEO Steve Huffman has announced through Reddit that an official application is currently in development and will be released soon.

As mentioned, Reddit is a popular website and source for finding content for all types of niches. Enjoy do it yourself type projects, video games, comic books, health, fitness, or food? There's a hub with topics full of other enthusiasts that like to post images, videos, articles, and discussions. Recently, Reddit was in the spotlight for a vastly different reason, than its popular user base content that it hosts. It was clear that the Reddit users and viewers were not thrilled with the direction that former CEO Ellen K. Pao was leading. With a petition of over 200,000 supporters and constant harassment, Ellen stepped down and the first CEO to Reddit, Steve Huffman took the reins once again.

Today it was announced by Huffman that an official Reddit Android application will be released in the near future. The announcement came through a Reddit post in which Huffman revealed what is currently under active development, one of which highlights the Android app. Steve made mention that the application is uncompleted right now and there is no exact release date of when users can expect to download and install it. Additionally, Steve Huffman confirmed that the application was already in the works before he took the CEO position, meaning former CEO Ellen K. Pao was working on the application during her stay within Reddit. As noted, there is no official release date as of yet for the official Reddit application. Additionally, there is no word as to what features will be included with the app. As such, if you would like to enjoy Reddit while on your handset or tablet then you will have to for now, continue doing so through the mobile version of the website or the third party Reddit applications.
