The smartwatch scene has really heated up since the initial days of the Pebble and Samsung's Gear series, with styles and functions really starting to bring smartwatches into their own. A brand that seems to get weekly news from China is No. 1, who specializes in creating devices that are cheaper in price than more name brand ones but offer similar functionality and style. In the beginning of the year No. 1 debuted its first smartwatch, styled after the Gear 2 from Samsung, and just a few months later they dropped their first round smartwatch, the No. 1 Sun S2. Both of these devices fit different styles as watches are meant to do, and run off of the MediaTek ultra-compact mobile platform.
Now it looks like No. 1 is all set to release a third smartwatch that's looking to be a little more on the classy side of things as LG's Watch Urbane set out to do. Unlike most other smartwatches, including the company's previous efforts, this one doesn't need to pair to your phone at all to function fully. Rather there's a build in SIM card slot that will give the watch all the connectivity it needs thanks to your favorite carrier's nearby cell towers. Working on both 3G voice and data the No. 1 Watch as it's called will work exactly as your phone does, just in a much smaller package on your wrist. It bares all the features of No. 1's previous smartwatches plus a few new ones, including a microSD card slot underneath the hood that's designed to let you store music, photos and videos on it for more portable usage.
No. 1 is also citing some enhanced specs with the No. 1 Watch over their previous watches, including a newer circular screen perhaps with a smaller flat tire on the bottom of the display for all the needed sensors. A stainless steel case and nano-glass screen keep the watch from getting scratched, which could be a big problem considering it's something that sits on your wrist. There's also a new app that connects to the watch this time around, the Fundo app instead of the MediaTek Smart Device app. Plenty of other features such as phone finder, UV sensor, pedometer, sedentary reminder and more are packed into this little package. There's no official price or release date just yet but it'll likely be available in the coming weeks for much less than other smartwatches knowing No. 1.
