Featured Review: Braven BRV-Pro Bluetooth Speaker

Rugged Bluetooth Speakers are never really all that good looking, and they probably never will be. Just as rugged smartphones are usually pretty ugly. It's because their job is to protect the product, whether its in the rain, at a beach, or even at a construction site. One of Braven's latest Bluetooth Speakers, the BRV-Pro is a rugged Bluetooth speaker, and it works really well. This isn't Braven's first rugged speaker either, there was also the Braven BRV-1 which we reviewed and was pretty impressed with it.

With the BRV-Pro, Braven touts that it can stay connected to your smartphone, tablet, laptop or whatever device you have it connected too, for up to 100 feet. Which is much further than most Bluetooth speakers. The average is about 30-50ft. Additionally, there is a 2200mAh battery inside, which allows it to run longer, but it also allows you to charge your phone at the same time. Which is pretty important. As streaming music over Bluetooth can really put a hit on your battery. Luckily, you can just plug it into the speaker and charge it at the same time.

On the back of the speaker, there is a cap hiding away all of the ports. Which includes an Audio In 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a micro USB port and a USB port. Obviously the micro USB port is for input with the USB port being for output. There is also a Battery indicator which allows you to see how much battery is left on the speaker, pretty quickly. Whenever you are not using the ports on the back, make sure to close the lid back, that way the speaker will remain waterproof. One of it's key features.

Now the important part, the sound, the audio. I've been using the Braven BRV-Pro mostly for music, and the audio coming from it is actually quite good. It may not stack up to those from Beats Audio, Bose and others. But its not too shabby at all. It also gets pretty loud without getting distorted, very important for those looking to use this at parties and such.

Currently, the Braven BRV-Pro can be found over on Amazon for about $149. Not a bad price at all for a rugged Bluetooth speaker with some nice and boomy sound. You can grab yours here.
