Commodore Phone Likely Replica Of $145 Orgtec WaPhone

There has been an abundance of rumors doing the rounds in recent weeks although yesterday saw some very interesting news coming down the wire. The news was that Commodore (the company who used to make the computers back in the 1980s) were planning on releasing an android smartphone. Now to be fair, in yesterday's coverage, it was noted that this is not exactly the same Commodore as the company has changed hands a number of times and all that eftectively remains is the brand name, which was being used on the new smartphone.

Well, 24 hours later and it seems there are some more details emerging about the so-called Commodore PET smartphone. The latest details actually highlight that the Commodore PET is not a new smartphone. It is probably going to land as a Commodore branded device, although it would seem the device is already available on the market and branded as the Orgtec WaPhone. In fact, on initial impressions, it would seem that the two devices are identical in all respects. With the exception of one, price. While the new Commodore branded devices are due to land at $300 and $365 respectively, the Orgtec WaPhone is apparently priced at just under $145. That is, for the 2GB 'Lite' Commodore version anyway.

So there you go. The Commodore PET might very well be on its way although, it does seem that it is quite possibly just a rebranding of an already existing smartphone with quite the markup attached. One extra point worth noting, is that it is not clear as yet as to whether the WaPhone has the emulators built-in and the gaming emphasis that was apparently expected with the Commodore version. Of course, whether the inclusion of two gaming emulators is worth a double the price, price tag is probably unlikely. It is also worth pointing out that it seems the Orgtec WaPhone is only available in the 2GB model and as such the additional 3GB model also being touted by Commodore is an interesting addition. Of course, again whether the RAM and internal storage difference is worth the price increase is again debatable. Either way, you can check out the full details of the Orgtec WaPhone and make your own mind as to whether this is the Commodore PET smartphone by hitting the source link below.
