Acer's Liquid Leap+ Smartband Is Now Available In The US

Acer may be known by their PC lineup, which offers good hardware for the price they ask, but they have a few smartphones and tablets, so the natural step was for them to enter the wearable space. It's been more than a year since they first introduced their Liquid Leap smartband and more recently, they updated it with a new version called Liquid Leap+ which has been available for a while in some regions including Europe and the Middle East. Today, the company has announced that they will bring this fitness device to the United States.

Just like most smartbands, it's targeted towards users who care about fitness and health, but it integrates some more functionality to control the smartphone that pairs with it. It's designed in a very minimalistic way without any hardware buttons to highlight its touchscreen functionality. The OLED screen of 128 x 32 pixel resolution is slim and measures 1-inch and the band is very lightweight at 18 grams, so it can be carried all day in a comfortable way. It features interchangeable bands, which are very durable and they come in 3 different colors including Charcoal Black, Fuchsia Pink and Lime Green, all of them included in the box.

In terms of health and fitness related features, it can count steps, track the runner's distance and minutes of activity. Users can even take a swim with it as it features an IPX7 certification, so it can be submerged in depths of up to a meter. The sleep mode can be activated to track the sleeping hours and there's a calorie counter in the companion app which syncs the information between the smartband and the smartphone using Bluetooth 4.0 low energy connections, the app is compatible with Android and iOS devices. Using that connection allow users to control the music player and notifications such as messages, incoming calls, emails, alarms and calendar events while it can also display the time and date. The Liquid Leap+ can be charged using a micro USB connector and its battery can last up to 7 days. It is now available in the US from major retailers or it can be purchased through Acer's site for a price of $79.99.

I've loved technology ever since I touched a computer and I got to experience the transition to mobile devices which was amazing! I got into Android with the Samsung Galaxy S2 and I currently own a Sony Xperia Z3 and a Nexus 7 because I really like the look of vanilla Android. My interests include movies, music, art and mathematics.
