Today is a great day if you happen to own a Sprint branded HTC One M9. On Twitter this afternoon Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC said that the company had received technical approval for an Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the device. Mo Versi then went on to detail that the update would begin its rollout to users on July 1st, which is a mere two days away.
Currently, the Sprint HTC One M9 is running Android 5.0 Lollipop, so what changes and improvements will this Android 5.1 Lollipop update bring? Well, Android 5.1 comes with its own list of changes and improvements, but Mo Versi said that the update will also bring some camera improvements to the One M9. As to what those camera improvements will be is currently anybodies guess, but it is more than likely the same camera improvements update that hit the international HTC One M9 a while back. What Android 5.1 itself will bring though is some quick settings tweaks, revamped screen pinning, improved volume control options, and some new animations and icons. There is of course another handful of slight tweaks and improvements sprinkled all throughout the OS. Although, there is no way to determine which of these new features will actually be included in HTC's UI on the M9.
If you don't already know, the HTC One M9 is one of HTC's latest additions to the One series of devices. It contains a 1080 x 1920 5-inch display, 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 20 MP rear-facing camera, 4 MP front-facing camera, and a 2840 mAh battery. As you can clearly see, the One M9 is no lightweight device. If you would like to get to know the device a little better you can read our review of it by clicking here. If you own a Sprint HTC One M9 then keep your eyes out starting on July 1st for your Android 5.1 update. With some great camera improvements added on top of that, this is definitely an update that you won't want to miss out on.
