Sony's Ultra Compact Bluetooth Speaker Is Now Available

During this year's CES, Sony was expected to announce a new flagship, that is based on and according to its 6-month release cycle. Instead, they announced the mid-range water-resistant Xperia M4 Aqua and their flagship tablet, the Xperia Z4 Tablet (and no real flagship has been unveiled, for that matter). The rest of the show was dedicated to announce their new Home Entertainment lineup, but some of those accessories were made to be used with mobile devices like smartphones or tablets, for instance, the speakers that feature Bluetooth connectivity. The SRS-X55 is the most powerful with 2.1 sound and 30W of power and its battery can even be used to recharge some other devices, the SRS-X33 sits in the middle but it is 20% smaller than its predecessor featuring the same 20W of power and while all of the three that were announced were very compact but the SRS-X11 really stands out as it is a cube designed speaker measuring only 61 mm on every side and its lightweight of just 215 grams it can be easily carried as a keychain with the included strap.

The X11 can be paired with a smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth 3.0 or NFC with a range of up to 30 lineal feet in addition to the 3.5 mm input and it doesn't only allow to stream music wirelessly, it can also be used for hands-free calling as it includes an omnidirectional microphone. The sound comes out of two passive radiators each with 10W of power to give a little more bass into the mix and if you need a little extra power you could connect another X11 speaker in Double Mode or enjoy stereo sound with the dedicated mode. The battery lasts for up to 12 hours using Bluetooth connection or 7 hours for calling, in case it runs out of power it can be charged via Micro USB taking 4 hours to get fully charged. The X11 was supposed to be available last April, but for whatever reason was delayed. Either way, the device has now become available in the US and is offered in its 5 color options: blue, black, white, pink and red. In terms of pricing, the X11 comes in at a price of $69.99.

I've loved technology ever since I touched a computer and I got to experience the transition to mobile devices which was amazing! I got into Android with the Samsung Galaxy S2 and I currently own a Sony Xperia Z3 and a Nexus 7 because I really like the look of vanilla Android. My interests include movies, music, art and mathematics.
