Sony Xperia M4 Aqua Surfaces At Videotron

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that the new Sony Xperia M4 Aqua was making its way to Canada, and now it seems that Videotron is the first carrier to quietly post the device on their website. Although other Canadian carriers, including Bell, Fido, Virgin Mobile and Wind Mobile, will be adding the phone to their lineup in the coming days. At Videotron, it will cost you $299.95 without an agreement, only $29.95 if you are on a monthly plan running $49.95 a month for 24 months or $79.95 for 24 months on a $39.95 monthly plan.  Hopefully, you like the color black as they do no appear to be offering the white version yet.  The M4 Aqua is a nice smartphone in the mid-range area and a great device for the active teen with its 5MP front-facing camera for social media selfies and video chats...not to mention its waterproofing for those pool shots or underwater videos.

The weakest link in this Xperia style device would be the 5-inch HD display - not the size, but with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and about 294 pixels-per-inch (PPI), it is definitely pushing the lower limits of a mid-range device...but considering the Sony still only uses a 1080p display of their flagship, what else is to be expected.  It is rocking a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four cores clocked at 1.0GHz.  This version is running 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, although there is a microSD card slot to add an additional 32GB of storage.

The main camera is pretty decent with a 13MP Sony Exmor RS sensor with autofocus and LED flash.  While they do not include OIS, Sony incorporates their SteadyShot technology to help in that department.  The FFC is a 5MP wide-angle lens that will help with group selfies or video chatting.  The M4 Aqua uses Sony's 3D Surround Sound technology (VPT), Clear Audio, Clear Bass, xLoud Experience and a manual equalizer for a great sound experience.  It also has the usual Wi-Fi, hotspot technology, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer.  It will be running Lollipop 5.0 out-of-the-box and measures 145.5 x 72.6 x 7.3mm and weighs in at 136 grams.
