Sony Smartwatch 3 Stainless Steel Strap Appears in Store

Back in January at CES, Sony announced a few different straps that would be available for the Smartwatch 3. This came after many were unhappy with the look and feel of the black silicon strap that came with the watch. One of those new straps that they announced was a stainless steel strap. While it wasn't as pretty looking as some of the other smartwatches out there, it was a big step up over the black silicon it launched with. After that, we hadn't heard much else about the stainless steel strap, until now.

According to The Xperia Blog, the stainless steel strap has appeared on the Sony Store in the UK, and is priced at about £54.99. That converts to about $85 USD. Which is quite expensive, considering this watch was around $300 when launched. However, many other straps are around the $50-100 range, and most of those don't cover the face of the watch like Sony's straps do, since they are proprietary. Right now the store is listing the watch strap as being out of stock. But that is usually the case before a new item is made available. So we will likely see it available very soon, at least we hope.

The stainless steel strap for the Sony Smartwatch 3 does look pretty nice, but it still would have been great for Sony to allow us to use regular watch straps on the Smartwatch 3, like every other Android Wear smartwatch allows us to do. This way users could get a leather strap, a stainless steel strap or whatever strap they wanted, to go with their watch. We reviewed the Sony Smartwatch 3 late last year, and it was a pretty impressive device. Although we weren't too impressed with it's "Always On" feature. The battery life easily was the best among other smartwatches out there, lasting at least 2 full days. Of course, that also depends on your usage.

As soon as the stainless steel strap for the Sony Smartwatch 3 is available, we'll be sure to let everyone know, so you can head on out and drop that cash for the stainless steel SW3 watch strap.
