In the world of Nexus devices, the Nexus 4 is perhaps getting a little long in the tooth. After all, it was launched at the end of 2012, and the Snapdragon S4 Pro inside doesn’t hold up very well against the likes of the Snapdragon 805 used in the Nexus 6. Having said that, it’s also a fun device to tinker with if you want to experiment with custom ROMs and just mess around with Android, but don’t – or can’t for work reasons – want to run the risk of messing up your daily driver phone.
For $140, the Nexus 4 isn’t a bad bet, and while you might not even use this as your everyday device, it’s a nice device to get familiar with stock Android and take the first steps into rooting and modding. The eBay Deal in question is for a refurbished Nexus 4, as they aren’t manufactured brand new any more. This has been done at an LG-approved center, and should ensure a phone in good condition with absolutely everything working.
The Nexus 4 doesn’t appear to be getting Android M, as it wasn’t included in the Developer Preview, but it does still run Android 5.0 Lollipop officially with Google’s blessing, so it’s still pretty modern and up-to-date. For $140, this could be the device that turns you on to rooting and modding, and it’s not a massive price to pay for a decent smartphone at the same time.
