Earlier this morning ASUS held their special 'Incredible Comes To New York' event to showcase the official North American launch of the ZenFone 2, a 5.5-inch Full HD smartphone with compelling specs and an even more compelling price point. If you thought the OnePlus One was a steal for the hardware and the price it was given, ASUS might have it beat. During the announcement this morning ASUS mentioned where consumers would be able to get a hold of the device here in the states, and perhaps surprisingly they opted not to sell it through carriers and will only be selling the device online, unlocked, and completely contract-free.
One of those online merchants where the ASUS ZenFone 2 will be available for purchase is Amazon, and while the scheduled launch for the device was set officially for May 19th, which is tomorrow, the ZenFone 2 is now officially up for sale on Amazon, shipping from and being sold by Amazon themselves. This is notable because the device was available earlier today, only from third-party resellers at a higher cost than the actual price ASUS listed at the event. This means consumers can now get their hands on the ZenFone 2 U.S. model for the listed prices of $199 for the model with 16GB of internal storage space and 2GB of RAM powered by an Intel Z3560 Processor, or $ 299 for the higher-end version which comes powered by the Intel Z3580 processor, and comes equipped with 64GB of internal storage space while also receiving a bump to 4GB of RAM up from 2GB.
Besides the listed specifications above, the ASUS ZenFone 2 comes equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display protected by Gorilla Glass 3, a 13MP rear-facing camera with ASUS Pixel Master technology to help with better low-light pictures, and a 5MP front-facing camera with excellent wide-angle capabilities for the perfect selfie. Since this is an unlocked GSM device it will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile networks, but should also work with other GSM carriers as long as they support LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 17 or any of the compatible 2G and 3G network frequencies. It's also dual-sim capable so you can easily take it traveling or simply store two carrier sim cards in the device if you have the need, and with the 3,000mAh battery (which was praised in our review) and ASUS BoostMaster technology the phone can get up to four hours of talk time on just a 10-minute charge. For all that comes with this device, $199/$299 are great prices. If you're in need of a device and you had been eyeballing the ASUS ZenFone 2, now is your chance to grab the official U.S. model.
