Lenovo has unveiled quite a few smartphones during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and later that month, the company has also announced the K3 Note device as well. The most talked-about device that Lenovo announced during the MWC is quite probably the Vibe Shot smartphone, which we haven’t heard much from after the congress itself considering it will be available for purchase next month. Anyhow, it seems like Lenovo is planning to announce yet another device soon, read on.
The company has announced via their official Weibo (Chinese social network) account that they will hold an event in China on May 18th at 10AM (local time). The teaser image is quite interesting actually, it shows off a bullet and a ‘0.157 seconds’ caption below it. This quite probably indicates the camera shutter speed of the phone Lenovo is going to announce, that’s the only thing that comes to mind at the moment, though keep in mind we’re just guessing. Considering this will probably be a camera-oriented smartphone, Lenovo will either announce the Vibe Shot in China on May 18th, or they’re planning to unveil a completely new device. The former option is more probable though, especially considering the phone is still not available in China and its recent certification process in Lenovo’s homeland. Speaking of its certification, the device that got certified is somewhat different than the variant introduced during MWC. The model certified in China offers a lower-res display compared to the international model. It remains to be seen if Lenovo plans to announce that handset, or perhaps the variant they showcased during the Mobile World Congress.
The Vibe Shot that got certified in China a while back (Z90-7) sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 405 GPU. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is located on the back of this handset and flanked by a triple-LED flash, which is a first in a smartphone. The 8-megapixel shooter is available on the front side of this device, and a 2,900mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. The Lenovo Vibe Shot will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with Lenovo’s UI on top of it, and 4G LTE connectivity will also be available here. This handset measures 142.6 x 70 x 7.6mm and weighs 145 grams. The only difference between this variant, and the variant that was introduced during the MWC, is the screen resolution, 720p compared to 1080p.
