Huawei has been really busy lately, the company has announced 6 new devices in less than a month. Huawei has announced their new flagship line last month, the Huawei P8, P8 Lite and P8max were announced. These announcements were followed by three mid-range devices, the Honor 4C smartphone and two tablets. We’ve covered each of these devices already, and are here to talk about the Huawei P8max which was just certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) in China, which is more or less the last step before the device actually launches.
The Huawei P8max is the company’s flagship phablet, this is a huge, huge device. This thing features a 6.8-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) LTPS LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 16 or 64GB of internal storage which you can expand via microSD card up to 64GB (the P8max actually uses its second SIM slot as the microSD card slot). This phone is powered by the company’s HiSilicon Kirin 935 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz which ships with a Mali-T628 MP4 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel OIS shooter is located on the back of this device and there’s also a dual-LED, dual tone flash next to it. The 5-megapixel camera is available up front for your selfie and video call needs. This device will ship with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop pre-installed with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of Google’s operating system. The Huawei P8max is a dual SIM device which offers 4G LTE connectivity, and the certified variant comes with support for TD-LTE / LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM networks. The 4,360mAh battery is also a part of this package.
This handset measures 182.7 x 93 x 6.8mm and weights 228 grams, which makes it really huge and not that light either. You can’t expect it to be any smaller with a 6.8-inch display though, same goes for its weight. The P8max will be available in Luxurious Gold, Mystic Champagne and Titanium Grey color options, it’s expected to launch in China really soon and other markets will follow soon after. The Huawei P8max will launch soon, and it will be interesting to see how many people will be interested in purchasing such a huge device, the P8max could easily be considered a phablet sporting such a screen size. The 16GB version of this device will cost 3,800 Yuan ($612), and the 64GB model will set you back 4,500 Yuan ($725).
