Oppo is one of the most interesting China-based smartphone manufacturers. This company has been around for over 10 years now, and has been manufacturing Android-based smartphones for years. The Oppo N3 is company’s current flagship, the phone which sports a big auto-rotating camera up top, which sets it apart from the competitions. This handset has been announced at the end of last year, and the company has announced a couple of devices since then. That being said, Oppo has just announced a partnership with one of the biggest football (soccer, for those of you who live in the US) clubs in the world, Spanish champion FC Barcelona. This Spain-based football club has won the Spanish championship (Primera) quite recently, and has also won the Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey) last night by winning 3:1 against Athletic Bilbao. FC Barcelona can also claim the Uefa Champions League title soon if they beat Italian champion Juventus in final soon. Anyhow, Oppo will be collaborating with FC Barcelona starting this year as an official partner. “OPPO is a global leading smartphone brand known for its exquisite product design and state-of-the-art camera technologies. We are more than happy to welcome OPPO to our family and hope this partnership can bring us closer to our supporters all over the world,” said FC Barcelona’s Chief Executive Officer, Ignacio Mestre.
The details of this partnership have not been disclosed just yet, but the China-based company and the Spanish football champion will cooperate in various way, including football events, fan activities, TV advertising, and accessories. Oppo’s CEO, Tony Chen, has said that they partnered up with FC Barcelona not only because they’re a ‘global icon football club’, but also because they ‘represent the art of football’. Either way, this is a huge step forward for Oppo in the marketing sense, FC Barcelona will surely give them a lot of exposure, and thus might improve their sales going forward.
