Everyone loves to have a discussion about things they’re passionate about, whether it be sports, food, beers, outdoor activities, and even apps and games. No matter what you’re interests are, you likely have something you love to nerd out on. If apps or games are your thing, then you might be interested in this app from a couple of individuals over at XDA called AppChat, which lets users chat with other like-minded people who use the same apps or games on their device. The app is currently in Alpha status, but the creators have mentioned that the more people that use it the more likely it is to get more traction and become improved.
The idea is pretty basic, as it sets out to give you a chat room ( or you can think of it as a forum if you like) for all the apps you have installed on your phone, giving you the opportunity to chat it up with others who have the same apps installed. There could be multitudes of uses for an app like this, like getting help from others about bugs and other things with apps or games noticed, to just simply talking about what you like best about a particular app. One example on the XDA thread even suggests it could be used to help people get past certain tough spots in a game they are having trouble with, almost like a guide in a way.
There are a few cool useful features of note, like the ability to detect which app a screenshot is for and ask if the user wants it uploaded to the chat room, and the creators say you can also “like” messages, mention users and so forth. There is also a feature to jump right to the chat from any app by swiping in from the bottom right corner of the screen. While the app was only initially available from theAppChat servers as a sideload option, the app has just been published to the Play Store. If you’re interested you can grab the apk from the AppChat servers and sideload it, you can find the link for this at the top of the XDA thread, or you can simply download it from the Play Store.
