ASUS has announced the company’s ZenFone 2 line of devices during CES in Las Vegas back in January, and the company has today re-announced some of those models for the US and Canadian market. ASUS has held an event in New York where the company has announced their two ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) models which will be available for purchase in the US and Canada from various resellers starting tomorrow, May 19. We’ve already covered the main announcement of these two devices and are here to take a closer look at one specific aspect of these devices, their battery.

Interestingly enough, both of these handsets ship with a non-removable 3,000mAh Li-Polymer battery on the inside, and they do have slightly different specifications. The higher-end model is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3580 64-bit quad-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz, it sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. In comparison, the lower-end handset ships with Intel’s Atom Z3560 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. So, taking all this into account, the 3,000mAh battery should provide enough juice for both of these handsets, despite the fact the higher-end model ships with a somewhat more powerful SoC and more RAM.

Speaking of battery, that 3,000mAh unit actually features the BoostMaster fast-charge technology which should charge it up real fast. Keep in mind that the 18W BoostMaster adapter is included only with the 4GB variant of this handset, the adapter will not come bundled in with the 2GB variant. Anyhow, the BoostMaster tech can charge up the 3,000mAh battery located in the ZenFone 2 in 39 minutes, according to the available info, which should come in handy indeed.

The ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) devices ship with a 5.5-inch 108op display and offer 4G LTE connectivity. The two devices also sport 2 SIM slots on the inside and three capacitive buttons below the display. The 13-megapixel PixelMaster camera is located on the back of these devices, and a 5-megapixel PixelMaster is available up front. The two devices will be available starting tomorrow (May 19th) from a number of stores in the US and Canada for $199 and $299, respectively. The devices will ship in Black, Red, Gray and Silver color options, and you’ll be able to purchase them from Amazon, B&H, Groupon and NewEgg in the US, while they will also be available from in Canada.
