Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 Begins Shipping May 21st

There has been a number of high-profile smartphones hitting the headlines in the last few weeks and months. The Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M9 are just a few of those that have arrived recently and attracted their fair share of headlines. The other common denominator between them is that they were all unveiled (after much speculation) at this year's MWC event in Barcelona at the start of March. Another device which was doing the rounds at that event was the latest offering from Alcatel, which comes in the form of the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3.

In terms of the actual device, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the Idol 3 is equipped with 2GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. In terms of memory, the Idol 3 comes equipped with 16GB internal storage along with a microSD card slot, offering the option to expand on the memory if needed. While in terms of cameras, the Idol 3 comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera coupled with a decent 8-megapixel front facing option. Additional features on offer include dual facing JBL speakers, a 2,910mAh battery and everything running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). So all in all, a decent device based on the specs.

In terms of availability, pre-orders for the device began back in April. As such, those who originally ordered the device have been waiting awhile now. Well, the latest coming in is that the wait is now drawing to a close and it seems the Idol 3 is about to begin shipping. In fact, the Idol 3 is scheduled to begin shipping pre-orders starting from tomorrow, May 21st. Not to mention those who had not pre-ordered, but were interested in the device will also be able to purchase the device on general sale. One of the big selling points for the Idol 3 (and especially considering the specs on offer) is that the device only costs $249.99 on Amazon. Keeping in mind, this is the price for the device unlocked, this is a good device for those not looking to spend too much, but also want a decent handset.
