Sony has been famous in the mobile industry for a while, recently because of their solid hardware with certifications that make it water and dust resistant, but also they have been criticized because their mobile devices look very similar from one generation to another or have very few improvements to justify upgrading to a newer generation. That story was confirmed once more a few days ago when Sony unveiled the Xperia Z4 after several leaks and rumors, including a change in the name of the smartphone. The hardware is almost identical to the one in the Xperia Z3 with a few changes like the Micro USB port that does not require to be under a flap to preserve its IP68 certification. In terms of specs, the screen remains the same and so does the main camera and although the front camera received an upgrade as well as the processor, most users probably wouldn't notice.
There have been some rumors about Sony's "true flagship" of 2015, which will probably be named the Xperia Z5. A total redesign for the smartphone has been mentioned including the materials of which it will be made, apparently they would stop using the glass and metal build in favor of a body made entirely from aluminum. Another change would be its iconic power key, which would be enlarged and probably reshaped to include a fingerprint sensor.
Now one picture of the Xperia Z5 has surfaced, supposedly, but because the quality is not very good and it doesn't show much of the device we can't be certain. We can clearly see the Sony logo and the rear camera is located where the cameras for the other Xperia Z models have always been. The back of the phone still seems to be made from glass and the shiny edge looks like it's made from metal. The picture was found on Weibo with very little text along with it, just the words "Z5", "9 month" and "Type-C" are written, suggesting the name of the device, that it could launch somewhere around the month of September and that it might use a USB Type-C port which some smartphones are already using. Some other rumors suggest that the screen resolution would be bumped to QHD and that it will sport the next generation of the best Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
