Xiaomi has announced quite a few smartphones and other various smart gadgets this year. This China-based company has actually announced two new flagship smartphones back in January, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro. The Xiaomi Mi Note has been available in China for quite some time now, and the Mi Note Pro has been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) a couple of days ago and should become available soon. These two devices are basically identical on the outside, but they sport significantly different internals.
Both the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro have been announced in White color only, and it was just a matter of time before Xiaomi announces some additional options. Well, this Chinese smartphone vendor has actually showcased the special Black Edition of the Mi Note in China. The company has done something similar last year with their 2014 flagship, the Mi 4. What’s interesting here, is that Xiaomi launched this in partnership with a famous Chinese pop star. If you purchase the Black Edition Mi Note in China, you’ll also get Zhang Jie’s album along with it. What about its specifications? Well, the Black Edition Mi Note actually looks identical to both the regular Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, and it offers identical specifications to the former one.
This handset features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of non-expandable internal storage (it seems like the 64GB variant won’t be available, at least not initially). This handset is also powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor along with an Adreno 330 GPU. 13-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of this handset and is flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash. The 4-megapixel (2um pixel size) shooter is located up front, and this handset will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of Google’s OS. The 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package, and same can be said about 4G LTE connectivity. The Black Edition Mi Note measures 155.1 x 77.6 x 7 mm and weighs 161 grams. The Black Edition of Xiaomi Mi Note costs somewhat more than the regular Mi Note, its price is set at 2,499 Yuan ($403).
