OnePlus Announces Launch Of The One In Malaysia Exclusively Available At Maxis

Nearly a year after it's official launch in many major markets around the globe, the OnePlus One is still making its way to new territories and regions where it has garnered much attention and interest but has yet to see any official availability. While the major news with OnePlus revolves around the rumors over the OnePlus Two and a new lower-end device to accompany alongside it called the OnePlus Lite, OnePlus has announced today that they will be launching the OnePlus in Malaysia in partnership with the local carrier Maxis, which is Malaysia's leading communications provider. OnePlus states that this step took them months to prepare and that they are proud to finally bring the phone to the region.

In addition to the OnePlus One launching in the country, OnePlus will also be bringing in a wide range of different accessories available for the phone, so consumers in Malaysia should expect a decent amount of offerings to personalize their devices. While this is certainly big news for residents of the country, perhaps the bigger news is that OnePlus will finally be launching the device through carrier retail stores without an invite, something which has never been done before by the company. Prior to yesterday, in any other region where the OnePlus One is available for sale officially, interested consumers needed an invite to purchase the device and order it through the online website if they want to pick it up officially. With OnePlus' decision to launch the device physically in carrier stores in Malaysia, it could mark what's to come from future OnePlus device offerings.

For those that are interested in picking up a OnePlus One in the region, the device will be available for purchase starting from April 22nd. Furthermore, the availability will be fairly expansive as OnePlus mentions that all Maxi retail locations across the nation will carry the device. This will be for the 64GB Sandstone Black model only, and will be compatible with the MaxisOne plan for a cost of RM859. For those that prefer a completely unlocked model, OnePlus and Maxis will be offering those as well for a cost of RM1199 which also comes contract-free.
