Official: Oppo R7 Will Be Announced Next Month

Quite a few smartphone OEMs already released what they call 'bezel-less' smartphones, but we can hardly call any of them bezel-less. Sharp actually came the closest to it when they released the Aquos Crystal which didn't sport any bezel on the sides or the top, but did have a quite big chin below the display. Letv has recently announced a handset which was called bezel-less as well, but that handset sports black bars on the sides which kind of mess with the term 'bezel-less' as well. Who is next in line to release such a smartphone? Well, it seems like ZTE and Oppo intend to give it a shot soon. ZTE will announce their Nubia Z9 flagship which is bezel-less according to the company's CEO, and Oppo... well, their upcoming device is kind of interesting.

We've talked about the Oppo R7 for quite some time now. A lot of images and videos leaked showing off Oppo's upcoming device, but the company was rather quiet throughout the whole process, until now at least. This China-based smartphone manufacturer has finally posted something Oppo R7-related and confirmed the existence of this handset and its launch timeframe. The company has posted the 'R7' teaser image on Weibo (Chinese social network), Facebook and Twitter. The Weibo image actually differs from the one on Facebook and Twitter, but you can check all of them in the gallery down below. Oppo has revealed that this handset will arrive in next month (May) and that it will feature their much talked-about VOOC Fast Charge capability.

As far as specifications go, we really don't have that much info to share. A couple of rumors did say that the handset will be powered by MediaTek's MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor and that it will sport a 20.7-megapixel camera (Sony's sensor) on the back, but we can't confirm any of that at this point. Click here if you'd like to check out the latest available image / video leak of this handset, one of many that have surfaced thus far. This handset is not exactly bezel-free on the sides, but thanks to Oppo's light reflection trick, it sure seems like it. There you have it folks, you can expect this handset to land next month, and it might even be accompanied by the leaked Oppo R7 Plus which has leaked recently as well.
