Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) 4G Is Now Up For Sale In India Via Online Retailer Flipkart

Last week, the most affordable smartphone in Motorola's lineup, the Moto E (2nd gen) was launched in India in its 4G avatar for Rs. 7,999 (around $130). Today, it has gone on sale exclusively on Flipkart, India's biggest online retailer, in two color options - black and white. It joins the already available 3G version of the phone in the country, which is sold for Rs. 6,999 (around $115) and packs hardware that is not entirely dissimilar to the 3G variant, apart from the SoC (System on Chip). The 4G version of the Moto E is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 processor and comes with a 4.5-inch qHD (960 X 540) display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a 2390 mAh battery. The phone has a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. It comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and Motorola has included a microSD card slot in the phone as well.

The 3G variant meanwhile, comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 32-bit chip with a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU (Central Processing Unit) and an Adreno 302 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) rather than the faster Snapdragon 410 found in the 4G model, which comes with a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 306 GPU, making the 4G variant more powerful than the 3G variant - at least on paper. The rest of the hardware is identical apart from the obvious difference in connectivity option.

Moto E (2 Gen) 4G will probably find it difficult to gain traction at this price point, seeing as it will have to battle it out with its parent firm Lenovo's A6000 Plus smartphone in the country. The A6000 Plus is slated to go on sale later this month and packs specifications that are much superior to the Moto E at an even lower price point. It, however, comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, although, Lenovo is expected to update the phone to Lollipop.

Flipkart is running several initial offers for the Moto E 4G buyers including 10% discount for SBI (State Bank of India) card holders (the offer stands for all Motorola Phones and Smartwatches). Other offers include free Moto E Grip Shells worth Rs.899 for 1,000 lucky customers, 100% cash back for 100 lucky customers and free shopping worth Rs.100,000 (US$1,650) for 10 lucky customers. These offers are available only till 28th April.
