As some of you might know, Meizu had started out as an MP3 player manufacturer. The company has come a long way since then and is now one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturers in China. Meizu has released a number of solid smartphones in the last year or so, the Meizu MX4, MX4 Pro, M1 Note and M1 handsets are more than solid devices and quite affordable too. That being said, we've seen quite a few leaks recently regarding Meizu-branded headphones. First the retail box leaked, and then the company's VP confirmed that Meizu is partnering up with a professional audio company in order to manufacture such headphones. Meizu is looking to follow today's trend and do something similar to what Xiaomi and Oppo did before.
Anyhow, we have some new information regarding all this, coming straight from Meizu. The company has actually posted a teaser on their official Weibo (China's social network) page, well, a couple of them actually. One of the teasers confirms that these headphones will launch in two days, April 15. You can check out all of the images Meizu posted in a gallery down below. The company did not exactly confirm that they're working with AKG on this project, but considering they partnered up with that company a while back it's pretty much obvious. As you might recall, Meizu did release a number of smart home devices back in January, and we'll see if they plan to announce anything other than these headphones in two days.
Meizu is doing great, their growth-rate is above and beyond what they could have expected last year. They managed to sell 2 million devices last month, which is double what they sold in December last year. This China-based smartphone manufacturer not only intends to keep on selling 2 million units per month, but increase that number even more. Alibaba invested $519 million in Meizu earlier this year, and that will certainly help this company expand their business outside of China, perhaps even outside of Asia. As a side note, Meizu did tease the company's arrival to India quite recently. Either way, we'll report back on April 15th in order to let you know what Meizu announced.
